I've bought this to carry bikes on my VW Golf Mk5 - replacing a 20 year old carrier held on by straps. I think it's great! Easy to assemble and mount on the car and feels really solid with the bikes on the back (I was always a bit scared of my old carrier which wobbled around a bit). Having the track rails makes it easy for one person to put the bikes on the rack and they're above the lights and number plate so no worries.

This rack has two great features. It supports the wheels of the bikes and it carries them high enough to ensure that lights and number plates are visible. The whole outfit (bikes and racks) are absolutely solid. You need to take care fitting the rack to the car- the payoff of solidity is that it's a tight fit.Also, the price via Amazon was about half that of even the bike discount stores, making it exceptional value.

searched around for something to carry 2 road bikes on the back of the ford focus 5 door. mechanically this system supports the 2 bikes from both the frame and the wheels (unlike many other types that only support the frame) excellent design. fixing it up took about 20 minutes (might be easier if there are 2 of you especially when offering the unit up to the car). used it a couple of times now travelling 60 mile round trips. excellent. one down point is that it doesnt breakdown readily and does take up a bit of space in the garage (but then i suspect most carriers do). you should also be aware that you might have to buy an extra fixing kit for specific cars and types.
